Luke Keaschall's very impressive 2025 rookie season was limited to 49 games by injuries. So when he got hyped up all offseason as a big piece of the Twins' future and then struggled this April, some fans naturally saw that as something of a rug-pull situation. Was he yet another young Twins hitter unable to sustain success?
Turns out, it was just an unfortunately timed poor month. Similar early struggles led to the Twins demoting Royce Lewis and Matt Wallner to Triple-A in May, but they stuck with Keaschall — keeping him as a lineup regular while moving him all over defensively — and he turned his sophomore season around in a huge way.
Keaschall has batted .298/.402/.429 for a team-best 136 wRC+ in 90 games since May 1, including .336/.438/.527 for 165 wRC+ in 40 games since July 1. Comparing his post-April work this season to his rookie numbers shows a remarkably similar hitter who, if anything, has proven that his initial 2025 success wasn't a fluke.
