Before getting to the fun offseason topics — best free agent fits, possible trade targets, early roster projections — let's first try to figure out the Twins' biggest offseason needs. Or at least which aspects of the team they figure to prioritize changing, and hopefully improving, with signings and trades.
As with any team coming off a 77-win season, and a third consecutive collapse in the second half, there are no shortage of weaknesses for general manager Jeremy Zoll and the front office to address. But the Twins are actually set up fairly well in most areas of the roster, at least in terms of having decent in-house options.
To be clear: There are still lots of spots they could feasibly upgrade. But focusing on the areas where the Twins' current options are severely lacking as opposed to merely mediocre, and help of any kind is necessary, there are three major roster needs that stand out regardless of how much ownership is willing to spend.
